Oil Burning on 740T 700 1990

Hi,

I have a burning oil problem with my 740T, it burns a lot of oil on idling and doesn't seem to at higher revs.

My friendly local mechanic says it is valve oil seals, and if this was a non turbo i would be inclined to agree, but I am worried about spening all that money on seal replacement if it is the turbo at fault. I have looked through the turbo failure FAQs on the net and am not convinced by their conclusions.

Does anyone know of a reliable way of telling the difference between failing engine valve oil seals or turbo oil seal?

Thanks

Laz
