Automatic Trans O/Drive - won't go into 4th 700

The o/drive in my 88 760 will not engage until the car's been running for 15-20 minutes and then it acts normally. Prior to that, I can hear the relay clicking when I manually select o/drive off but nothing happens as far as shifting into 4th. Is there a switch on the transmission that I should be looking at?
