I changed all the turbo and inter cooler hoses with new MTX ones from fcpgroton today. While I had the turbo hoses off I tried spinning the turbo blades. They spin easily for a few turns and then stop. Its fairly clean inside. Is the turbo suppose to spin that way? Also the hoses I pulled off were obviously dirty inside but there was little to no oil in them. Nothing dripped or came out of them. I am guessing this is a good thing??
The good thing is the car no longer has any hesitation when the turbo spools up. I have not tried reproducing the black smoke problem yet though. But I assume that it is related to the hesitation problem and therefore fixed since they ocurred together. Once I get the hose clamp I need I'll try driving it at WOT to see if I still blow black smoke.
