Just picked up a used volvo hitch for my 745. Need some installation advise if others have installed same on their vehicles or have the volvo instructions. The hitch has 5 holes on each side. I can see that 2 of these match up to the built-in nuts that hold the tow hook on one side. 2 more that are closest to the reciever seem to match up with more built-in nuts. One thing I don't understand is that the second pair of holes run through the top and bottom of what is a channel of metal at that point (the first 2 holes just have one flat piece of metal because the channel of metal does not run back that far). Do I get longer bolts for these or work the bolts into the channel area with a washer or something?
Also, how do I make sure that I tighten the bolts enough? Do I use lock-tite? And lastly, and guidance on cutting the plastic guard that hangs down under the bumper. The original directions had a template.
