I had 1st refusal on a '94 940 Turbo(39K). I expected it to be several years before I would get the car. The lady backed into a truck damaging trunk lid. Her husband (age 87) drove to Allstate's drive-in claims center for appraisal. He literally drove in as he mistook gas-pedal for brake and hit a concrete planter.
Insurance company total car due to expense of replacing airbags. I bought car from owner for $1,200 (difference in owner retaining car). So, I stole it from the salvage dealers. :) Thus far, I replaced the windshield, inflated tire to proper pressure, fueled up, and driven 300+ miles without problem.
I can do without airbags. However, when the airbags deployed, the seatbelts locked. The driver was not using his belt and there was no passenger. Therefore, belts will not pull out. I am frugal. I don't want to spend a lot on belts, if there is a way to release them.
