Swapping an AW70 into an 86 240 - is there a plug in the auto box for a mech speedo gear?

I'm swapping an M46 from an 86 into my 92 240 and the auto box to the donor car. Since I have my speedo driven from the diff, is there a plug like haynes mentions in my auto trans? If so, do we just plug the M46's gear drive since I don't need it and use it for the auto box? I hope this isn't a deal killer. We didn't think of this a couple of years ago. Thanks.
