My power antenna mast snapped off. I secured a new aftermarket replacement mast, but there were no instructions provided. I removed the unit power from the trunk, diassembled, removed the old nylon cord, cleaned the inside of the unit of grease and grit and am ready to install the new mast.
What is the procedure for removing the base of the old mast that is still stuck in the housing tube? How do you install the new mast into the mast housing? How do you hook up the new mast for full up-down operation? I found an archived article 03May2003, but it does not answer my specific questions. It appears the mast should disconnect and be re-installed from the topside, where the collar attaches to the fender. Is that end threaded or is there a snap-ring? It seems the replacement should be inserted from the top of the mast tube. Also, what about lubricating before reassembly? I'm on the home stretch, but don't want to goof up or bend anyhting. Any advise from those who have BTDT is appreciated. Thanks, Marc
