245DL Fuel Pump 200

I have a 1979 245DL. It needs a new in-tank fuel pump (bucking at half a tank, main fuel pump is audibly working harder). I would like to do this myself. Does anyone have any advice, tips, secrets, etc. I've never worked on any part of the fuel system, but after reading how to do this in Chiltons, I think I can do it. I have done plenty of other work, but I'm nervous around flamables. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
