Cousins:
I've got an '89 240 that will give me a no-start or will stall while driving - an intermittant problem.
I've checked the tuneup, all the wiring I can think of, replaced the power stage, replaced the fuel pump relay, checked the fuel pump wiring & ground, and cleaned the fuse box.
On no start, it seems that I'm getting fuel but no spark. It may try to start, but will sort of backfire - sounds like it goes completely off timing for a second - but when it starts, it'll run fine & normal. When it dies on the road, it's like I turned the key off - immediately dead.
Oh - when I check the failure codes, it gives me a "check the AMM" code. I have cleaned the terminals on the AMM and checked the voltages and they are in spec.
Any ideas?
