throttle question 200 1981

I have an 81 GLT with many kilometers on it, and it has become sick: When i accelerate if i push my foot too far down on the accelerator my car will stumble. It revs fine but only if i push lightly. This is becoming an issue when climbing hills and being on the highway and such. Is it possible its gettin too much fuel? any ideas?
