Transmission Pan Bolts 900 1995

The ones in the back are blocked by a thin metal "shield" bolted into the crossbar support mount for the transmission. You'd pretty much have to unbolt the mount to remove it, which seems a bit excessive for just dropping the pan, but there are plenty other almost-impossible-to-reach bolts/nuts on this car. Anyone come across this?
