1988 760 Turbo,
Has "Cam" type steering rack...ball joint on INNER tie rod has some play in it, giving left front wheel about 1 to 2mm or play at the outer edge
I've unclipped the boot, and I find myself staring at an inner tie rod end that mates to the rack...that has NOWHERE TO GRAB!!
How the f**k am I supposed to remove it?! It has no notches for a wrench, it's covered in grease...how does this thing come off? How does a new one go on? I can try channel locks, visegrips, I dunno, is that the "accepted" method?
Also there is some leakage around the rack, it's hard to tell if it's at the seal end, or one of the fittings at the end of the pressure lines, the whole area is wet with it, it's possible the boot was just wet becase leakage from somewhere else....what would transfluid/steering fluid look like if it was mingling with the grease on the rack?
Thanks!
-Matt
