Oil temp? ('new' gauge - what's 'normal') 200

For those with an oil temp gauge, what sort of temp do you normally see (and what engine/temp sender location)?

I installed in my 84-245(NA) a Volvo 150C(300F) gauge with oil-drain-plug sender (all retrieved from an 84 Turbo at the salvage yard). On the highway for an hour-and-a-half in central Texas (95F/35C OAT), the gauge stabilized at 70C(160F), creeping up only slightly when slowed through a set of ill-timed traffic lights. I do have an oil cooler and remote oil filter from when ipd sold these some years back, & running Castrol 20W50 for the summer.

I guess I am surprised by the low temp. Is there a calibration test for the sender?

Thx,
Tom
