All 700's paint 700

I was looking at the paint on one of our 745's. It is an 1988, with silver grey paint the lighter version. It has been religiously polished and waxed with Meguiars products, waxed with only #26 Yellow Wax. I looked at the surface with a magnifing glass and could see tiny lines and cracks. I am sort of convinced that the lines and cracks are mostly in the clear coat.

Has anyone wet sanded the clear coat and re-coated with clear poly - Ureathane ?
