Breather box cleaning without removal??? 200 1987

Howdy everyone,

Seals have started leaking; flame trap (including brass nipple, et. al.) gets cleaned with (almost) every oil change. So it's the breather box right?

Taking off the intake manifold is not something I want to get into....So, is it terrible to try cleaning the thing out with some sort of solvent fed in from above? What's the best thing to use? Brake cleaner? Engine flush? How long should the car run between feeding in the solvent and changing the oil? Should I drive her, or just idle? Anyone done this before?

If this is a bad idea in general, does removing the throttle body free up enough space to get the breather box out? It's an '87 so it's got the shorter box on it. Is there a chance it could be something more obscure or obvious than the breather box? The front seals are only a few thousand miles old, and everything has started leaking pretty bad over the course of the past few hundred. I want to take care of this before she eats her timing belt...

Any and all advice is appreciated.

Thanks in advance and take good care of yourself!
