OD not turning off 200 1979

Howdy Bricksters! I am on my road trip and I am noticing that my OD dosen't turn off. After a few minutes, it will. Usually after I need the extra power. Sometimes it will kick off then back on. Any hints on what this could be? Should I stop using it? Can I replace it easily or send it to the garage? Is this a sign that I am about to have major tranny problems? I know the previous owner had the tranny replaced for sure about 3 years ago. Thanks in advance. Franco79 '79 245dl 214,500
