I have a cold start injector. Some cars do not have them. Mine is hooked up but I don't know if it is even working. I bought a new seal and plan on removing it via two screws, then turn the key without starting the engine to see if gas squirts out like a fuel injector. Am I testing this correctly? I know there was a cold start problem with the 1990 700 series which resulted in some sort of wire splicing and reconnecting one wire to the starter solonoid I think (I found a factory service sticker saying that the cold start work was performed on my car). If I find out my cold start injector is not working I am wondering if the car will start faster if I can get it working again (It cranks a bit longer than I like before starting). Isn't a cold start injector sort of like what a choke did for carburated cars? Doesn't it get out a bit of extra gas right at first to help the car start more quickly? Please tell me what you know and think about cold start injectors, and why did they stop using them in later years? Thanks.
