Secondary Air Injection 900 1997

I have a 1997 960 that intermittently displays a 410 fault code (Secondary Air Injection) via the "Check Engine" warning light.

Once it is reset, it will not reappear immediately. I may go months before it appears again. Can you advise the assignable cause? What is necessary to correct the problem?
