another temp board bypass question 200

I just downloaded ipd's instructions for bypassing the temp comp board. The job seems to be within my skill level. But I'm way too cheap to pay 15 bucks for what looks like a piece of nicely bent coat hanger.

So... could I just fabricate a piece of nicely bent coat hanger?:-) Or should I use a real piece of wire? What gauge? What type of connectors? I'm sure I could figure it out, but it would be nice to know before I pull the instrument pod.
