engine numbers for 84' 242 turbo 200

Hi:

I'm considering purchasing an 84 242 turbo, would it be correct to say that if the engine number is 499926/7 that the car would have the b21ft engine with an intercooled turbo as opposed to 498966/7 for the non-intercooled version?

Where would the engine number be located? Timing belt cover?

Can anyone tell me how to find out if this car has a water cooled turbo or an oil cooled one?

Any general info that you have on the advantages/disadvantages of either set up would be appreciated.
