I recently replaced the pre-pump on my 240 turbo with a high-output type in a vain attempt to cure my poor idle/stalling and lack of power problems. I know the pump I installed works, (i.e. I disconnect the power from it and the main pump starts cussing at me :) and i installed a new filter sock on the pre-pump as well. My symptoms have cropped up all of the sudden, but I know the pre-pump was failing. I tested it when I had it removed and it had a varying pitch and sounded very slow compared to the one I put in.

Again, my probems are poor idle (it will die when cold if i dont baby it with the throttle) lack of power ( will stumble when i want to accelerate) very hard to start ( will take many cranks and attempts to actually get it going which is very unusual for this car).
