Here's an interesting event which occurred with the '84 244 Ti this past weekend. We mad a trip down to Seattle from Vancouver, sat in line at the border crossing for about 45 minutes while the ambient temp had to be somewhere around 85. Then, while accelerating from the gates (slowly, not attracting any attention..lol) this bizarre sound comes from up front. It sounded like it was pinging, really badly. I'm running Chevron 89 with Techron... There was no loss of power, no bucking or hesitation either. Everything operated normally, boosted up just fine, except for this temporary pinging type sound that lasted momentarily, about halfway through 2nd gear (stick). I wasn't hammering on it either, like you would normally have to do to get it to ping with cheap gas. I've been running this fuel for awhile with no previous problems whatsoever, and this is the only time it's done this. I switched to a semi-synth oil thursday (castrol 10-30), but i don't see any connection between the two... Any ideas on what it could have been?
Thx..Scott
