How To Put A Date To A Radiator? 200

I have an '88 240DL. I see what appears to be round date code imprints on the side of the radiator. I have no idea if the first owner ever replaced the radiator. Can I use those date code roundels to get an idea of the date/origin of this radiator? I have a sneaky suspicion this is the original radiator and think I ought to start looking for a replacment soon. The hoses appear new as does the water pump but the radiator appears to be original to the car.
