Markings On Brake Piston Seals 200 1983

Just wondering if anyone knows the significance of the red, two white and brown square markings on the outside edge of brake piston seals. I'm just now putting new seals and dust boots on my 83 244Ti front Girlings. Using a Lucas kit and all eight seals have these marks.
