1965 122s rear end question 120-130

So i took my baby to a "mechanic" last week and the guy charged me 325 bucks to adjust the valves and timing....hmmm, but anyway, yesterday as i was coming home all 4 bolts that connect my driveshaft to the rear differential mysteriously ALL FELL OUT AT THE SAME TIME...once again hmmm...could happen...maybe....anyway my question is: Is there some kind of gasket that goes inbetween the 2 parts? i crawled under and tried to just put 4 new bolts in but there is a little gap, approx. 1/16-1/8 of an inch...should i just cinch the bolts down? and what do you all think the chances are that ALL FOUR BOLTS suddenly dropped off?
