Critters! Don't you love them? 200 1986

Anyway, in the midst of my Volvo problems, with the help of this board I've probably found the classic Air Mass Meter failure (if it's not the ecu I am hoping..) Taking out the AMM was easy and I decided to give the air filter a look.....and Waz this???....Lots of Leaves and then a big Mouse Nest all in front of my poor engine's gasping broncial tubes. Maybe why my AMM failed? But also my car's been up on jacks for a week or more, so they've might have moved in after the Stall.

Last time I looked at the filter was over a year ago when I replaced it and who knows if the the mechanic late last year looked. Who knows when the mice moved in? last week after the car stalled for the first time or months and months ago? If the mouse nest was there for monthes, the car's 'brain' most of compensated for lesser air...or maybe the mass of leaves and mouse hairs just provided more 'filtration'? But since I am on a second or third AMM for this car.. maybe the mice were a factor in this latest failure of an AMM. 'course mice move fast, coulda been just a couple of days ago (in the summer?)

Anyway. Old cars always have a pet or two hanging around. Keep the look out. Maybe they came into the filter box from that hanging flex pipe often falling off the exhaust manifold coiling..........three mechanics said 'eh, don't worry about that, it's unimportant....Now, i'm firmly attaching it back to the coiling over the mainfold.... and the other possible entrance has a sturdy flap which would seem to keep varmint's out.

mice, don't you love 'em?
