Filing slots for extra 240 camber adjust 200

A number of you guys have mentioned that you can use a file to lengthen the camber adjustment slots in a 240.

I understand that, but I don't see how that would help, because when the studs hit the end of the factory slot, the raised ridge on top of the bearing assembly (the one you reach down inside of to loosen the strut retaining nut) hits the edge of that "D" shaped opening in the top of the strut tower.

In other words, lenghthened slot or not, you can't move the strut top any farther in or out. Can somebody explain this to me?

TIA,

DS
