I have been repairing my own flats for years by plugging them and have had good results. I tried to plug one recently and was unsuccessful. Each time it continued to leak slowly. I carried it in at a local tire store this morning and was shocked to hear it would be $18.50 to repair it. I did not have time to shop it around so I had to bite the expensive bullet. Is that the going rate to throw a patch on??
I have a manual tire changer but don't like to work with aluminum wheels as it is rough on the finish. Perhaps I should look into having a few patches in stock when the plug fails to stem the flow??
