Aux a/c fan won't blow 700

90 745 16v 162k

I just fixed my a/c (THANKS ALL!) and the aux a/c fan on the front of the condensor won't come on. I don't think that it's worked since I've had the car.
I gave it 12v directly and it DID come on. If I short out the 2 wires on the temp sensor on the top of the radiator it will not come on. Is that a temp sensor or a switch? Anyone have a schematic (before Nate screws up his car)?
