Cam seal replacement. Info. needed 900

I need to replace the valve lifters.
I plan to do the job myself and I do have the volvo factory manual for the engine. It appears that the seals may be impossible to replace while the engine is in the car because the clearance required for the insrallation tools. Has anyone had experience with this? Which service tools are absolutly neccessary?
