Why you should check your cat out... 900

Ok as some of you will know I have been chasing a oil usage problem through thick and thin...

Having replaced just about every ancillary known to man on a 945Turbo ...just dont ask about the cost...

This weekend I found a freindly exhasut shop who would make me a CAT bypass pipe (this replaces the cat with a custom made pipe) - NOTE this is legal in where I am for a car of hte age of mine - IT MAY NOT BE FOR YOU!...

Anyway 1 cat bypass pipe and one new mid box (it wasnt great) later and...well lets say it drives like a different car...I mean its seriously fast now!....

Now i actually measured back presure BEFORE i ditched the cat and was getting up to 5 PSI prior to the cat (4500 rpm under WOT and load) and 1-2 psi after it...havent measured this system but im betting its WAY lower...also now if i 'blip' the throttle in the drive I get the turbo guage responding markedly (which it never used to!)..

I dont know if its cured my oil problem yet...

But for those of you who have older CATS...check your guages, consider a presure test...and dont expect 'definate' failure modes!
