Just wanted to share my experience installing a trans cooler in my 93 960 sedan.

A piece of cake once you have the following parts:

Qty 1 - LPD5542 Stacked Plate Trans cooler (www.longmfg.com) purchased from Makco Distributing (www.bulkpart.com) - ($45.00)

Qty 1 - 16mm x 1.5 male thread to SAE -6AN male thread adapter, Aeroquip part number FCM2241. ($12 ea)

Qty 1 - 15mm x 1.5 female thread to SAE -6AN male thread adapter. ($12 ea)

Qty 2 - SAE -6AN 90 degree socketless hose end, Aeroquip part number FCM1532. ($17 ea)

The last three items can be bought from from www.batinc.net or www.hydraulic-supply.com

Qty 1 - 2 1/2 gallon jug of Amsoil synthetic ATF ($86)

Procedure:

Remove the grill.

Unscrew the trans oil line going into the top of the trans cooler on the passenger side of the radiator & pull the line out of the fitting.

Remove the large plastic piece that fits across the front of the radiator & AC condensor. The radiator hold down clamps can stay attached and are removed as well.

Remove the plastic piece that blocks off the grill opening on the passenger side of the A/C condenser.

Remove the screws holding the A/C condensor & radiator to the shroud fitting between them & remove the shroud. This allows you access to the back of the A/C condenser.

Follow the cooler instructions & mount the cooler to the front of the A/C condenser. I mounted mine with the connections on the left side, inlet designated as the top for reasons you will see soon.

Lubricate the hose barbs and position a 90 degree hose fitting in a vise so you can push on an end of the hose supplied with the cooler. DO NOT CUT THE HOSE YET.
It is a tight fit. Twist as you push. Put on a hose clamp.

Snake the hose through the hole next to the radiator and feed it toward the cooler bottom connection.

Use the female to male adapter to attach this 90 degree fitting to the trans oil tube fitting. You may have to pull the tube gently away from the radiator to get enough room.

Cut the hose to connect to the bottom cooler fitting. Leave enough slack etc but not too much. You need more hose for the next step. Attach the hose to the cooler with a clamp.

Attach the rest of the hose to another 90 degree end fitting and use the male - male fitting to attach it to the radiator fitting.

Snake it through the hole and route it to but but do not connect with the upper cooler fitting.

Flush the trans per the FAQ - use this hose to direct the trans fluid into 2 empty gallon jugs, refilling with the new stuff as you go. I used 2 gallons and kept the rest to top off. I also left the hose long so I could flush in the future if needed.

Connect to the trans cooler and clamp when you are done.

Re-assemble previously removed parts. You will need to cut the rubber skirt of one of the air management pieces to clear the new hoses.

Ty wrap the trans oil line as needed to prevent movement.
