I was going to look into painting the 245 myself, when it became apparent that my sister's celica needed a paint job to keep -it- from rusting. In steps my dad, concerned about my sister's car. He works a deal with the Maaco guy so we're both getting the 4-year warrantied "urethane-plus" deal for about half of what it should cost. It's the best paint job they offer, and the guy said it should outlast the car. As suggested before, I took a ride down to the shop and looked at their work... I was really surprised. All the cars looked great, no overspray or dirt. They'll dry it inside, which was another big concern.
So.. I'm being a little overprotective and doing some prep myself. I'm taking off the rubber trim, losing the tape on the upper edge of the doors, removing all the stickers and emblems from the tailgate.. I'm thinking about doing something like the guy at projectvolvo.com and taking off all the chrome trim, filling in the holes with some bondo or something and putting a little primer over everything.. either way I'll be taking it off because I don't -completely- trust the masking work. Any other suggestions/ideas? The car goes in Monday... it'll take two days longer than the celica just because it's so much bigger. I'll post some pics when it's done to let you know how it went!
Thanks,
-Matt
