Trailer towing with 745tiw/4 speed+OD 700

I have a 745 turbo with a 4 speed + overdrive. I am going to be towing a popup camping trailer this summer, and have checked the archives for advice, but have seen mention of manual transmissions. Do you folks think I should avoid using the overdrive while towing, or is that advice just meant for the automatic trans folks? Trailer weighs about 2000 pounds.
