Bricksters,
I recently replaced the blower motor in my ride, and decided to take her to my mechanic for an a/c re-charge today. It turns out, the compressor is making a ton of noise and needs to be replaced. No biggie. I prefer to convert and up-grade the system to r134 but have a couple of questions...
Do I buy the 134 Kiki compressor (FCP Groton), without the fittings on the back, and charge the system in a new location? Does the 134 retrofit kit include a new place, other than the compressor, to re-charge the system? What is the prefered method for this conversion?
After all is said and done, my mechanic recharged the system with r12, but the vent temperatures are around 58-60 degrees. I also noticed that the temperature gauge ran very close to the red, with the a/c running, on my ride home. Turning the a/c off brought the car back to its normal opperating temperature. Is this a sign of a faulty fan clutch? Or, do I need an electric fan for my condenser?
Thanks in advance for any information, Jon
