A few updates/questions on the 89 245... 233,000 miles and going strong.
1. Got the car back from Maaco, it looks great. I removed all the trim, tape, plastic, emblems, etc. It probably resembles something closer to an -old- 240 now, which is what I was going for. I even went so far as to order a pair of '75 era "245DL" logos from volvoworld.com for the fenders. I need help. Anyways, back to Maaco. They did a decent job masking, I only had to scrape a little paint off the black window trim in a few spots. The guy threw in the "gravel guard" stuff along the bottom of the door, it's barely noticeable when looking at the car but is supposed to make a big difference in the life of the paint. I'll post some pics soon. Overall I'm very happy with their work, and have a 4-year guarantee on the paint.
2. What is the K ____" number under the trip odometer? I never even gave it a second thought until I noticed it was different on my mom's '92.
3. In my quest to cure the ratting shifter, I've ordered the auto tranny linkage bushings online, and plan on installing them along with a new tranny mount next week.. anything I need to look out for / worry about with this job? My dad and I did engine mounts a few weeks ago, and I'm led to believe the tranny is easier. As far as the bushings, are they as easy as just reaching up and feeling around for the clips on the linkage? Do I need to drop the transmission? I dunno.
Thanks... check http://homepage.mac.com/matthogan soon for the paint pics.
