Steering boot & jerking 200 1985

Looked through previous data on subject. Right steering boot tore & lost all fluid. Replaced the boot. The boot was smaller. I about mid way while turning the steering wheel it does strech & the boot rubs the steering bar. Now, I replaced the steering fluid & used about 80% Lucas Power Steering Sealer. No leak now, but the steering jerks when you turn the wheel. Do you think if I put the correct size boot back on that will solve the problem (jerking). Thank you all for reading this.
