Turbo Shaft Play

I just received a TDO5 with under 100k miles on it to put on my 1989 740 wagon (235k). There is a little bit of play in the shaft (perhaps a cm or two) but no touching of the blades to the housing. Before I put it on thought I would ask how much is too much play? Seller agrees to increase warranty if I will install it--says all including the rebuilt they have, have some play.
