SMOKING INSIDE!!!!!!! 200 1987

my a/c has been working off/on. Today when it turned it on..it wasn't long before i started smelling something burning. No a/c. Smoke started
billowing from the vents..like burning wires. It didn't seem to be just from
the vents..but maybe it was. Has the wiring harness burned up? The car
still runs..the clock stopped working? The car has 300+ miles..and i
don't want to spend much more $ on it. Is it ready for the ...yard?
I have it parked with the battery unhooked. Thanks!
