Auto Aisn-Warner tranny.
This thing was perfect when I blew my old head and the car sat for a year. New engine, and now at 3rd gear (and OD) it makes this high pitched noise. Like a cross between a bearing race gone south and a whistle.
The only times I've had a trans go out, it just stopped shifting. This shifts fine (if a bit late, but I haven't checked the kick down or anything yet..) and the feel of the shift is the same as before.
Checked the fluid, and it's there. No bad odor. I was gonna do a flush anyway just from setting so long, but if this is what I think it is, should I even bother? Maybe try to find a used tranny? (NOOOOOOO!!!! I never *did* get this one out of the car. Couldn't remove the @#%@#$@# universal to get it off the driveshaft when I swapped engines! It just stayed there on a jackstand during the swap...)
Thanks!
