I recently had cause to drive a manual other than my 1985 745t m46. When I returned to the brick I began to notice that my clutch doesn't fully disengage until the very top of the pedal's travel. I've always realized volvo manuals have huge clutch travel (at least the 700s), but I can't remember or figure out if the high release point of my clutch is normal.
Is this a sign of "stretch" or slipping in the clutch cable to the pedal? Is it correct for the pedal to fully release only at the top of pedal travel? If I've noticed a tendency of the clutch not to fully disengage sometimes when I use it to play the gas, is it possible that this "high release" is the cause?
Assuming it is a problem and needs fixing, can I just adjust the clutch cable on my own (car on ramps, etc.)? I seem to remember someone mentioning an adjustable component in a post I read, but don't know much about clutch mechanics. Any info or advice would be great.
Thanks in advance for any help.
