How to remove factory radio 900

Hi,

I have a '93 940 with a factory radio (forget the model), with am/fm and cassette. I want to remove the head to check the wire contacts in the rear, but for the life of me, cannot take it out.

I tried using small screwdrivers for the two vertical slits, but to no avail. I'd appreciate some pointers.

Btw, I have very faint and static sound coming out of speakers. Would it be the contacts? All fuses, other than heated seat, are ok.
