I am hoping that someone can help me out on this. I have been round and round with many people and gotten no where. About 3 months ago my 86 740t wagon 4sp w/od started having trouble getting into gear. Reverse could not be done with out wanting to grind very bad, as a result I never went backwards =(. First didn't grind but I could not get it onto gear. If the car had been running a little while it would go into any gear just fine. Still a little rough on first and reverse. As a result I have changed out the Clutch master cylinder and slave. The system has been bled, and today I took the transmission out to change the clutch. Now that it is out I have found that the clutch in it is close to new. The flywheel is perfect with no scratches and the throw out bearing and fork look to have been replaced not to long ago. The pressure plate looks good but the center tabs / springs are a little uneven. They were not damaged from handling but look like they have been pushed on a little unevenly.
Any suggestions as to what the problem could be would be much appreciated. At this point I am going to replaced the pressure plate and then possibly the gearbox. Thanks in advance!!!
