Volvo 96 960 oil consumption 900

I have a 96 960 that started consuming oil at about 78K miles. Has run strong since I bought it used at 56k miles - other than a new intake gasket. Now it is consuming a quart every 1 to 1.3 k miles. No leaks, some oil in intake box. Engine remains strong with occasional miss fire at idle. Fuel usage unchanged. Did change oil manufactures - last two oil changes were a Texico brand. Is\t sound like his is not "uncommon" from other postgs
