Grinding noise when accelerating from complete stop - AW70 transmission 700 1990

Problem just appeared first time this morning, now is every time. Noise seems to come from transmission. The car does acclerate normally, and the transmission shifts normally. Noise dissappears once I get past 25 mph or so. Car has 205K, very regular maintenance. Transmission shifting very respectable for one with those miles. I'm completely ignorant in this area, afraid of rip-off transmission places. Car is 74o GL. Suggestions?
