Strange Engine Problems after Rear main seal replacement 700

1990 740 gle b234f, auto
Just changed rear main seal this weekend, and now have some strange problem.

Car will start, but will not respond to throttle. Just idles about 500rpm, way low, very rough, and nothing will get it to budge off that speed. Manually turning throttle does nothing but cause it to run rougher and eventually die.

I did remove and clean RPM sensor, which is fairly new, & check all electrical & vacumn connections that I could see.

Removing amm plug, it would still start, but idled even worse, and the amm is new.

What could this be. I have a code present, but haven't recovered it yet.

The only thing I got near that I'm aware of is the PRM sensor. Could some debris
on flywheel cause this odd problem?

Also trying to mate the engine/tranny I did raise and lower the engine, which caused the distributor to contact firewall. Could this be it?

After such a long weekend job, I'm pretty brain dead, I hope I'm missing something that is obvious!!!

thanks,
jc
