945T fuel mileage 900 1994

Just got a ('94) 940 Turbo wagon (which I assume is a 945T) and the gas mileage is 17.5mpg (US gallons) on regular gas and lightly driven too. I've heard that higher octane is better but I cannot believe it would get me into the 20+ mpg range. Also, the turbo gauge needle only gets into the first 40% of the white zone - related?


The car gar seems to run fine otherwise.
