OK, so after 100,000 miles i replaced the fluid in my m46. That was a month ago, before my drive from PA to CO, and i've had no problems since. That being said, the girlfriend went to her mechanic last week to get her auto trans flushed and filled. She was talking to one of the guys about how she helped me change mine (it's a lot easier than crawling out frmo under the car every time you need to refill the syringe). He said that after fluid has been in the transmission for so long, it's sometimes better to just leave it in. I've actually heard this before, so I want to know if there's any truth to it. ANy ideas?
oh, and since that fluid change was the first in 100,000 miles, should i change sooner than the recommended 50,000 just to clean more crap out?
