945T overheated on my wife - update 900

Hi guys - thanks again for all the great responses. This site is the best.

OK... Made it home last night, but that engine is running much warmer than ususal. My drive was 25 miles in 100 degree temps... I stopped after 10 miles of 70mph driving (temp gauge at 12 o'clock)- and the coolant was rushing around in the radiator fill bottle - pushing it's way out from under the cap and the hose underneath the fill bottle. And I could easily smell the coolant/warm engine combination. The upper/lower radiator hoses are not squishy at all - a lot of pressure here.... It's not normal, I know. BTW - this is with the a/c on the entire time - cooling fan was running quite a bit.

I took it a bit easier the last 15 miles, watching the gauge like a hawk. Pulled in my driveway and popped the hood. There was no coolant in the fill bottle. With the engine off, I slowly opened the cap - and then the coolant began to spew out... Later last night, when things cooled off - I poured about 1/2 gallon of water back in the fill bottle. The entire time during my drive home - the temp gauge is on 12 o'clock - although I know the engine is running a lot warmer than usual.

One thing I've observed - when I'm driving at 45mph or under - city streets - although I can smell the engine running warmer than usual, I don't think I'm losing any coolant. It only seems to happen when I'm driving at highway speeds.

BTW - there are no visible leaks anywhere on the engine block, or from any hoses - other than from the radiator fill bottle area. And my oil is clean with no foaming/water residue.

Anyway, I think it's going to my local indy volvo shop tonight for a check up/out. I'll probably drop it off after the Neil Young show :)

Question: Can you guys tell me - what's the worst case scenerio (regarding my bill $$$$?) In other words, what kind of $$ should I expect for a head gasket replacement VS head gasket and machining the head VS head gasket, machining, etc...

Because if this gets too expensive, I'll take a couple days off work and dive in myself. It can't be that difficult.

Again - thank's so much for your advice! Best regards, Chris
