Wet Carpet @ Floor Boards (96' 960) 900

I have a 96' 960 and I have noticed wet carpet at both driver and passenger after it has been raining. My molding is wearing thin from the bottom two corners on my windshield. I have called a couple repair shops and researched that the molding shouldn't be the problem. The windshield is sealed from the inside and the molding is cosmetic. One repair shop suggested to check the firewall. Does anyone have any other ideas wear it could be coming from? I know this could be a serious problem with rust if this continues.
